You will find tools for:
- Building virtual communities & shared sites,
- Syndicating your news, products or events (RSS) across participating web sites,
- Web publishing (building web pages),
- Calendars (for events and collaboration),
- Visual mapping tools for local (or global) networks and communities.
To really understand the full scope of what we are trying to achieve with Global District™, you need to keep in mind three things:
- The tools can be used purely as useful features on web sites ie. independently.
- The tools can be used to create shared web sites (with news, events, special offers, maps & links) eg: virtual communities or associations.
- However, this shared space can then be configured by members with plugins on their web site linking to other members using their judgement as to what is most important to them (eg: feeds)
In this way the shared space becomes a shared resource: a tool in itself, and can be reinvented and re-used over and over by members.
