CROSS COMMUNITY TOURNAMENT LAUNCHED AT FLAGSHIP
Flagship Centre’s favourite celebrity David Healy was in top form last Sunday when he visited the Centre to judge the final of their ‘Drawing David’ Art Competition.
While he was there David took time out to help launch the annual North Down cross community football tournament which is organised by North Down Community Sports Forum, North Down Community Network, PSNI and North Down Community Safety Partnership with the help of a number of local businesses.
David Healy, the celebrity face of the Flagship, is also a keen supporter of the project which was originally devised to help reduce anti-social behaviour. David commented, ‘this type of initiative is great for the young people of the area as it gives them something positive to focus their energy on and it’s great to see them getting out there and enjoying themselves on the pitch. Best of luck to all of the teams involved this year’.
Flagship Centre Manager, Karen Marshall said, ‘the popularity and success of this tournament is much higher than we could ever have imagined. Over 350 local children, many from disadvantaged backgrounds, took part in the tournament last year, and it is expected that number will be even greater this year. We are pleased to be able to offer our support to the tournament once again’.
