HOLYWOOD YOUNITE FESTIVAL 19 – 27 NOVEMBER

In support of Race Equality Month in November, Council’s Holywood based Community Development Team, working with the Good Relations and Neighbourhood Renewal Sections, partnered with Beyond Skin, Homely Planet, the PSNI, Redburn Loughview Community Forum and Unite Against Hate, to deliver the Holywood YOUnite Festival 2010.

The Festival week addressed the hard issues of Good Relations in raising awareness of sectarianism and racism and how they affect our community. The purpose of the week was to promote the concept of Holywood as a shared community, which has a zero tolerance approach to hate crime and its many manifestations.

A great festival week was enjoyed by all those who took part in the various workshops and events. Three radio programmes recorded during the week will be available to download from www.homelyplanet.org.

Below are pictures from some of the events and workshops held during the week.

EVERYBODY COMES TO HOLYWOOD - youth workshop on multicultural music from around the world and cultural diversity issues.

A POLISH FOLK ART WORKSHOP - with the RECON Youth Group about traditional polish costumes and the traditional art of paper cutting.
