One of our Assistant Coaches, Allan Johnston, completed a bare foot Firewalk across 20 feet / 6 metres of wood embers burning at 1200 degrees Fahrenheit, see photograph, organised by The Cedar Foundation, a charity which delivers a range of services, which empower and support people with disabilities to be fully included in their communities.
Allan, who raised £201 for the charity, was sponsored by many Bangor Club members, including those from Ballymagee Primary School after school club.
Allan admits that he was very nervous before the event but benefited greatly from a pre walk motivational seminar. Allan’s feet were not injured in any way by the burning embers but advised junior members not to attempt to emulate him in any way as it would be too dangerous to undertake the feat unless you were an adult and did it under supervision.
