NEXT CONCERT: THE BELFAST CARMEN

An exciting new play for the Belfast Festival at Queen's, inspired by the story and featuring the music of Bizet's Carmen played by the Ulster Orchestra.

The Belfast Carmen

written by Martin Lynch & Mark Dougherty and directed by Sam McCready is an original large-scale play, specially written for the 0th Belfsat Festival at Queens based on the story and music or Carmen.

The production features a unique combination of professional opera singers, professional actors, a 100 strong community cast and chorus and the Ulster Orchestra.

Set in Belfast, where a visiting English opera company are rehearsing an adaptation of the opera Carmen, the production is thrown into chaos when the local crew object to the interpretation and down tools! When the opera singer playing Carmen sides with the local crew, against her own director, the scene is set for a major confrontation.
