BEOWULF - The Tyrone Guthrie Society

Adapted from sections of the new verse translation by Seamus Heaney

The newly-refurbished Great Hall at Queens provides the perfect setting for this stage exploration of this epic story of Beowulf and his struggle with the shadow-stalking monsterGrendel -and his mother!

Performed by students from the universitys Drama Department, this will be above all a celebration of the expressive power of language. heaneys acclaimed new version of this thousand year old tale provides the perfect medium for the local voice, bridging the centuries and reminding us that there are still monsters to do battle with, and lives to lead even after they have been laid to rest.
